Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas...

.

...,Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Seeya in the new year!
 Tegan Dumpleton aka Sluglady28

Resolutions, explanations and a peek of things to come

Merry Christmas, Happy ecetera-and-so-forth and a happy new year, peoples!

I’m looking forward to the new year like you cannot believe. Yes, it has been a... interesting year for me. And heck, i actually have some new art tonight! So lets get started:

I wanted to give a shout out to Deirdre Foster of Chat de BLA/Swiss Tales who used some of my images for Haroun and the Sea of Stories, for flyers for their telling of the book. The play was a few months ago and she told me that it went great! Congrats to Ms. Foster and the whole Chat de BLA/Swiss Tales gang! And thank you so much for letting me be a part of it!

Next, for those that were paying attention to SOPA related news, they you’ll know that the final decision has been postponed... making my “THERE’S NO TIME LEFT” comment seem like a bit of an over reaction. But I got to say, this is the first time I've actually been happy about a bill taking it’s time in parliament.

The reason I was all “HURRY! HURRY NOW!” is because this is a pretty scary bill. And I’m not gonna apologize for posting info on my sites about it. This bill affects anyone who uses the internet, especially for work and art purposes, weather it’s for posting you’re videos, streaming to friends, and networking. Honestly, the scope of this thing is pretty broad, just because of how ridiculously vague it is. So I hope that any one interested will at least take a look at the sites and videos, and not shrug is off as propaganda, or shrug it off as “another day in American politics”, especially since the bill is free to read for yourselves. If you’re still kinda iffy, find a news site you trust, mainly a nerd or art site. I’m sure some of ya have heard of That Guy With The Glasses, which have been posting news like crazy about SOPA

Oh, and I never mentioned how NANOWRIMO went! I didn’t make it to the 50 000 words, but I did manage to get a lot of writing done and it was alot of fun! Hope everyone else who participated had a great time!

Now, on to the main stuff: I know I have been promising and promising for the last several months that new things would be showing up here, including sketches for my webcomic... but it’s just not gonna happen, at least right now. I know, I know, we have danced this dance before and I am more of a little sick of it. As I said in the last couple of months, it can’t be helped with how the last couple of months have been. I honestly kinda wish that I started a big hiatus back in October, but I couldn’t have foreseen all these things involving work, my health, my family and my... general, uh, Tegan-ness.

So, next week or two will be a hiatus, but I will put up a x-mas picture tonight, since, heck, I do that every year and I love doing it! (last year was new years, so it didn’t count) and this month’s articles should be done next week (cross. Fingers.), but other then that, the things I've been planning for so long will not be starting this month.

BUT It’s gonna be a new year, work will cut down after boxing day stuff is done, and I will (hopefully) get back to a schedule that doesn’t take up my time. My health needs work (understatement) but I am working on it Things look good. 1212 feels like a good year... y’know, except that last part about the apocalypse.

See ya all next year, when I may actually have both time and energy to concentrate on what I actually want to do with my life: Drawing and writing whatever I want, and bringing joy to those that partake in it. I guess you could call it my new years resolution.

Huh. This reminds me of something...

Perhaps, in the New Year, I will tell you about it ;)

Attention US Citizens! Stop SOPA now! Please?

Okay, I had a much longer, detailed thing planned for this (and it's own little doodle) but THERE IS NO TIME LEFT! SOPA could be passed tomorrow!

SOPA, or Stop Online Piracy Act, would give companies omnipotent power to take down not just certain videos, but entire sites. Even things that once would be covered under "fair use" such as fan videos charity related media or non-profit animations containing parodies would not only be taken down, but be considered felonies. And so that social media sites won't become liable, they would have to shut themselves down. This can include DA, YouTube, Tumblr and Facebook!

FACE. BOOK. The social media site so famous, it got an award winning movie made about it.

Look, I don't like copyright infringement, but these companies already have enough power to combat copyright infringement. SOPA just gets rid of lawyers and the chance for sites to defend themselves.

I might be canadian, but I have friends in the US, and a great majority of art comes out the US these days. And the last thing i want is for the US to give any other country ideas.

SOPA could be passed tomorrow, so PLEASE, contact you're senator, makes some calls. PLEASE get on this!

If you'd like to suggest an alternative, read up on the OPEN act, which at least allows sites to defend themselves in court: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2011/12/alternative-sopa-open-process-befitting-open-internet

If you want to know more about SOPA, check out this video here: http://vimeo.com/31100268

And check out the main protest sight, which will help you contact your representatives about why we don't want SOPA: http://americancensorship.org/

Why do I even bother making a Schedule?

Sigh. Well, as usual, nothing goes as planned, does it? I was planning to start things back up this month but my day job continues to keep me pretty busy. There's quite a lot of physical work involved and well... anyone who has met me knows that I have the physical strength of a toothpick who smokes. So most of my days off consist of sleeping and/or trying not to move my sore limbs @_@. I need to do that thing people do when they want to get stronger and healthier. What was it again? Ex...er...something? Eh, I'll figure it out.

Anyway, I've been working on getting a schedule that will benefit both my work and myself. And I'm working on new stuff and hopefully things will be up soon. However, with Christmas around the corner, things are only going to get busier. So, I will be extending the sorta-hiatus-probably-only-one-update-a-month thing for Christmas too.

BUT! I am working on new projects! I've been getting ready to use Youtube for my work, I'm working a new site theme for Art Slug  and I am currently working on a web comic! After some time, I've finally figured out which story of mine to do for a web comic and pretty much how to go about it, and am currently putting it together. I still have a lot to do, but i'm hoping it will be out sometime mid or late next year. Just in time for the Apocalypse!

Wait.

Seeya all soon!

Monthly Comic’s Corner: October edition!

Monthly Comic’s Corner: October edition!

Sigh. Why do I even bother making a schedule? But never mind the self pity--- It’s time for me to take a look at the comic’s I bought in October! What comic’s from DC’s New 52 made it into my line up? How does Journey into Mystery and Spider Island conclude? And what the heck is with X-23’s star-palm? Plus, I take a look at a new-ish(?) series from Image comics!

NaNoWriMo Challenge! (November News!

Hey guys! So guess what? November is National Novel Writing Month! If you haven't heard about it, it's a writing prompt challenge where you much write a whole novel (50000 words) in one month, from scratch. And I'm planning to join in this time.

But I'm going to be a bit flexible with the rules. I'm currently working on my webcomic, which will consist of mostly short stories, not one novel. I'll also be counting in everything else I write from scratch this month, including sketch-log, fanfiction, writing prompts, etc.

I'm also trying to get more serious with my art. I want to get a job in the art field. And as much as I love working on the Sketchlog, I suddenly have less time, and I really want to work on this webcomic and start drawing some bigger pieces. Hopefully, after the christmas rush is dealt with, I’ll be able to find a balance between my art and articles.

Course, you'll all just have to take my word on how close I get to that 50 000 words, since what I'm writing for the web comics mostly be scripts and outlines. I won't be able to show you guys anything, outside of teasers, sketches and a few scribbles.

So this is my goal: To write as many of my short stories as possible, and get to that 50 000 words. And since it is a webcomic, I'm going to post at least one teaser sketch/doodle/napkin scribble twice a week. I want to do more, but y’know, tis the season!

And posting things it will get me to come out from under my rock, uh, I mean, writing desk, now and again to rejoin humanity.

So I will be focusing a lot on Art Slug and DA (Bout time too!). There is only one article i have planned for the Sketch-Log: My October Comic's Corner.

And for those not that are unfamilar with my older, older, oldest work, I will also be posting the rewritten version of my fanfiction.

Stop laughing.

I like fanfiction. It’s something I enjoy, it’s a hobby, the the first person who teases me because of it will be slapped in the face with a desktop computer. I am definatly going to address the topic of “fanfiction is bad” thing, but for now, let me put it this way: It's a pastime I enjoy, and one of my "nerd weaknesses". Some people will be every Sonic Screw Driver ever manufactured, some people will make memes. At their core, there's nothing wrong with either.

It's gonna be an "interesting" month so wish me luck!

SS/OM: Monthly Comics Corner: September part 2

SS/OM: Monthly Comics Corner: September part 2

Hey guys! Ready for round two?

Check out Part One here!

Right. I know. I'm about 2 hours late. Why was I so early with part one? Cause I totally forgot to add all the jump links to all the names and topics in part one. And there are so. Many. Links. It takes about two hours extra out of my time. And Wikipedia has now burned itself into my brain @_@ I’ll fix the first one tomorrow-er-today. Whatever. Oh and suddenly, Blog spot has suddenly changed a bunch of settings on me. Joy. (Links have now been added to part one! Plus, a little extra on Batgirl and Green Lantern!)

Now that my dignity has taken it's daily hit... On to the review!

SS/OM: Monthly Comics Corner: September part 1

Hey all! Well, Super September (and October) month is finally at an end. It’s been a long two months of capes, heroes, and yes, pants.

And with this being the end of the SSOM (Shh. I know I'm three days late. Don’t care. It’s still technically October to me.), the start of my MONTHLY COMIC REVIEWS. and the month of Halloween-- one of the greatest days ever... I did more then draw a costume this time:

Ta-DA! And yes, those are pants. No big deal. They’re just pants.

Anyway, Today, I will be reviewing all the comics I purchased that came out in September. I won’t be including Octobers comics because... this list is already longer then I planned. I bought many of DC’s NEW 52 and as much as I loved most of the comics I saw, I... just don’t have the money to keep it up. Which is a shame, because I was really torn on what comics to continue with, and I still am. The October review will be in the next week, so you’ll have to wait till then to see what I’ve picked.

(Edit: I apoligize for completley forgetting to add the links to all the names and events. I've fixed it now, plus some spelling/names issues, and i added a little more to Batgirl and Green Lantern)

BTW, this will be long, so I was forced to split it into two parts so you guys can have a break. (It came out to 23 pages when I finished O_o) Now, without further adieu:

Birthday girl says "Wait one more day... please?"

I abuse this image far more then a should X3

Okay, here's the gist.

Don't worry, I'm not gonna go on hiatus. This is just a schedule update for this week.

I did a lot of writing last week. But the weekend was my big editing time. So what happened? I got sick. I got so sick my brain felt like a blown up water balloon. Oh, I'm fine now. But the articles were extremely slowed need a bit more time before they are. And I have work in the morning. It is also my birthday.

So I'm gonna save the new stuff for Thursday, and also extend the SUPER SEPTEMBER Month into October.

This month has been awesome. I've done so much work regarding the site and I love every single piece of feedback I've been getting here and at all my other posting sites. (Holy crud, over 200 views in the past month. That is awesome. And you guys are freaking awesome.) However, I obviously took on too much at once, hoping to put out more then one article a week, and only doing one. Which was pretty good, actually. Each one, including the ones on the way, have been longer then I thought I would make them and... frankly, I think i've surprised myself quiet a bit this month, especially with my writing and view points.

So, enough of me blabbing. I'm off to sleep, work and then have sushi and ice cream... Wait.

SSM: Ways to help Wonder Woman: DC edition

Ways to help Wonder Woman: DC edition
My Lasso. Now.

So, after my last WW rant about the Wondy’s pants debate, and all the great feedback I got, I figure I should continue it with something... a little less ranty.

Now, I talk a lot about ways that WW keeps getting screwed around or how awesome she actually is. But I haven’t really talked much about ways to keep her from being screwed around or show how awesome she is.

And I also don’t want you guys to get the impression that I think DC always screws up Wonder Woman, or that she gets screwed over more then any other hero. There has been some great Wondy stories. The All New Wonder Woman, for the most part, was really good. Her time during the Blackest Night event was great and had a lot of respect for the character, Brave and the Bold is friggin awesome and Gail Simone dug Wondy out of one of a...a... I can’t think of a nerdy metaphor for “deep hole”. If anything, Hal Jordan has been put through a lot worse (See- Parallax)

But even now, DC is still making the same mistakes with her. Maybe because her books continue to not have good sales (last time I checked) And now that the reboot is here, to say I'm worried is... an understatement (Why does she get only one comic and Batman show up in like, 5 during the first month?!)

So here are a few ideas on how DC can help give the Amazon Princess a hand. Later on, there will be a fans edition! And a little disclaimer: Most of this information is based mostly on my own experience--- what I see in the bad comics and the good, and partly on my research of the character. And it can be applied to most of the super heroes out there.

List after the jump!

September is SUPER HERO/COMICS MONTH

So I was organizing my articles and realized that a lot of my articles this month are superhero based. So lets make it a theme! I'm even dressed up for the occasion! ...And it’s my birthday at the end of the month, so there.

Also, I do have some things planned for october (depening on wiether or not I get a certain windows 95 computer working). But after September, the sites will be slowing down to a few more regualr updates. More like once a week instead of 1 ever copule of days. And my portfolio will have more regualr updates. This is because i’m trying to decote more time to working on my webcomic.

So here are the articles I have PLANNED in no particular order. Key word here. It always depends on my work schedule:

Ways to help Out Wonder Woman: Part 1 involves DC and Part 2 involves the fans
All new Wonder Woman Retrospective, followed by a review of the whole series.
A look into a superhero costumes, both comics, tv shows and movies
Review of the Green Lantern movie on dvd
Con report (at last)
Canadian Comics
Ways to Advertise Comics (without reboots)
The start of my Monthly Comic reviews at the end of the month that include all the DC reboot comics I’ve been buying.
My birthday list--- er, I mean “Comic Recommendations” (Not all will be super heros)

In a few hours will be the first on the list: Ways to Help out Wonder Woman-- DC edition.

Seeya,
 Tegan Dumpleton aka SlugLady28

Edit: Sorry, the article will be up tomorrow morning. I've got work tomorrow and this article is taking longer to edit then I imagined. Night everybody!

Edit again: Aaaand now I have to say it's going to come in the evening. Because I ended up tossing and turning the entire night and couldn't get to sleep until some time after 5:00 am. So now I had to use all my extra hours this morning to sleep in so I'm not a complete zombie at work... sigh. Oh, well, these things happen. I'm not going to whine about it this time. Oh, but any one who asks why I didn't just work on this last night instead of tossing and turning gets a good stick in the eye.

... sorry, that's the insomnia talking... I think

The Wonder Woman Pilot Sucks but I'm Laughing!

Well, I said i would get to this eventually. Now that I've finally talked about the reboot, I finally watched the leaked pilot for the Wonder Woman TV show. And it sucks. A lot. So you're probably expecting me to review it, huh?

Well, I don't have to. All I have to do is send you to this link where Rob Brickan talks about everything wrong with the pilot. Thank God for Topless Robot! And I don't have to say a thing because I agree with everything single word he says :D! And that, after watching that piece of crud, is a major pick-me-up.

I am so sick of talking about how people keep screwing Wondy over and frankly, this thing is not worth it. It's canceled anyway :D! I didn't even both posting an image for it. That's right. My One Moment In Time Review and My Transformers 3 Review got more attention then this and they were ten times worse!

Good night and sweet dreams everybody! Woo Woo!

The Review Garden: The Dreaded Transformers 3 review

Slag. Slag. SLAG.

So obviously this is not the DC reboot article i promised. No, it's not finished. I'll just say it: I'm bloody exhausted right now. (so much that i just published this without adding the picture. Wow.)

It's been a long couple of days at work and there's still another couple of days before my day off. Can't be helped. I got more hours then usual this week and it's School season, so I'm working with alot of hyperactive kids (not a complaint. I love my job). So, the con report and the DC reboot will be later. Hopefully one of them tomorrow--- the day of the reboot starts----and probably the other some time this week. As long as I'm, y'know, able to move.

But, instead of leaving you high and dry, I'm posting an already finished article. And what better to end this incredibly busy and stressful month with a much needed nerd rant.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my Transformers 3 review.

Heads up: There are spoilers, F-bombs...And I think I started channeling the Spoony One.

An Ode to Print

And now for something completely different...

Hiatus is over! And Schedule news!

Okay I promise this will be the last image i reuse... for a while

Hey everyone! Yes, the Hiatus is over. Life is a little more under control, and i can finally get back to doing what I want-- write and draw!

So heres my plan:

I got one article to post to day and then... I'm going camping. What? Stop looking at me like that! The trip has been planned for several weeks now and them my parents decided to go on Wed, not Thurs.

BUT, before the end of the month, I'm going to post all my articles regarding the DC Reboot (before the whole thing starts). This includes my Convention report about the Calgary Comic Con, my thoughts on the whole thing, and what issues i will be buying.

The last issue All New Wonder Woman is out today, so I've i can get over to the comic book store (or download a digital copy) I will, and will be working on it over the camping trip. If not, it'll take a little longer to write. I also promised some time back that I was going to touch upon the controversy that the comic brought on. That should be out some time after instead of before. I won't just be touching upon the comic now, but also the cancelled TV series, and the reboot version of her.

I also have a few other things on the way, but I'm keeping the schedule as flexible as possible right now.

New regarding everything: I'm updating both Art Slug and my DA page again. Fanart and Fanfiction will be coming back soon. I'm also working on my own webcomic now, but I'm not announcing what it is just yet.

Oh, and I bought Minecraft.

And it is awesome.

Hiatus for a while

Told ya this was my hiatus pic

See title. This was not my plans for the summer, but... I'm calling off all web stuff until I get my life in order. BUT I will continue to answer e-mails, if someone wishes to contact me. But right now, I have so many things on my plate that i can't even work on the job I want--- my ART!

So I'm taking the pressure off. You can check me out at facebook: Facebook page or my latest blog: Organizing Tegan, where I'm trying to keep track of what I'm accomplishing.

I want to start a web comic. I want to continue my sketch-blog. My portfolio site. I want to talk about the calgary comic con, the DC reboot, the new silent hill movie. Start working as an illustrator. I want to finish some of my personal work. My fanfiction. And my fan comic.

But I also want to feel in control of my life, live in an organized, clean room, where i have room to work, reconnect with old friends, repay my debts, spend time with family i may not see again. And right now, these are the things I CAN do.

So until then, this will be my last entry until I'm "back". And I WILL be back. I don't know when. And I don't know how fast it will be. Heck, it could even be in the next few days, if i'm reeeeeally lucky.

And, WOW, I'm ending this on a downer. Anyway, you'll be able to tell when I'm back when I actually post something. Until then...

So here we are again...

So. Didn't get any articles in---yadda yadda--- I'm sick of this--- blah de blah. I've done this scene. Several, eye-twitching times.

Okay, long story short--- I can't organize. Never have. Anyone whose known me, personally or net wise, knows this. And i further proove it by, once again, failing to post the articles I meant to this week. And before you think it's just the sites i'm bad with, i should note that I have barely drawn or writen anything in the past week. And if i don't start soon, i fear my muse may start using sledgehammers to motivate me.

However, conventual means of organization doesn't work for me. So. I'm not gonna whine. Not going to play the blame game. Not going to threaten life's manager with combustible lemons. You know what I did instead?

I started a blog.

A blog dedicated to getting my act together.

No. Really.

I'll be using this blog to motivate and regulate my new goal and catalogue what i've done and what I'm attempting. Why the internet? I don't know. Maybe I just have a natural urge to embarrass myself.

So what does this mean for Art Slug, SlugLady's Sketch Log, and my writing, my art, eceter and so forth? Well, hopefully it means I'll finally start doing something. My goal this week is to post as many articles as I can here (hopefully with pictures this time) even if it ends up being mostly Slug Trails (Which I'm suppose to be doing anyway when there is an unscedualed hiatus, ahem), and on Art Slug, and DA. And, who knows, maybe I can acutally draw something this week.

Fingers crossed.

Off to Con! Special Update Coming Next Week!

Hey all! This weekend I’m off to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo! I will be selling a few things (as long as everything goes well at the printers. Fingers crossed! Fingers crossed!) Up above is a sample of one of the bookmarks I will be selling! (So it counts as a new image. I planned this. Really. Ya.) I should be selling a few. Hopefully. Might be edited a bit more...

Frag, I'm starting to sound like Portal 2 Wheatley...

In addition, the book Acadian Comics, will be sold at the convention! The book is an anthology of comics created last year by us former and current ACAD students! We will be at the con under the name Project God Particle. See you there!

AND! Next week, I will be posting FOUR articles on the blog. You read that right! I know I said “no promises”. But it’s been an... interesting week in comics and such to say the least and I have three of the articles in edits already. Two of them will be regarding the latest... choice... DC made last week. Another will be an “Ode to Print” and the forth will be a Con Report of the comic con!

Seeya next week guys! And wish me luck!

Back in Edmonton and news on schedules

The to-do list... it never ends...

Hey All! I return to you now, a ten-day-old COLLEGE GRADUATE! WHOOHOOO!

Ahem... Ya, I'm still getting it out of my system. I am also now a seven-day-old Edmontonian! Yes, I’ve left Calgary and have moved to the City of Edmonton! I’m going to miss Calgary... the people... the places... the train... the lack of mosquitoes. But it’s good to be home.

Now I just have to unpack it all.

You’d be surprised how much one accumulates over 5 years... And then you see how much I accumulate over 5 years. To everyone that helped me move... I apologized for any major back problems you’ve acquired.

So, since I'm going to be unpacking, I still can’t promise when I’ll be posting stuff. Apparently now was the wrong time to attempt a once a week schedule. Not kidding. I meant to post this entry like, half a week ago.

In fact lets just disregard all schedules for, like, ever. A while back I as listed some topics I was going to blog about, but some of them I've cut and some won’t happen for a while. For instance, I mentioned that I was planning something big and Wonder Woman-related for October. Unfortunately, most of my research material was coming from libraries because I don't have the money to buy the majority of WW's books within the next few months... And the Edmonton Library's amount of WW books is probably about an eighth of what Calgary has. Le sigh.

So, in summary: Any schedules I make are 100% flexible.

I will be returning to Calgary in June for the comic con. Still working on what I'll be selling, if I'll be selling at all. No promises right now. Or schedules. Seriously. The things are a pain in the butt.

Oh, and my contacts have now changed to tegan.dumpleton@yahoo.ca

Now if you excuse me, I have three rooms worth of stuff to fit into one tiny one. Bye now!

The Review Garden: “I feel FANTASTIC and I’m Still Alive”

Whew. Miss me? I “triumphantly” return and take a look at what happened last month. Movies, Games, Comics, TV and an stupid election that no one wanted.

And since sticking ratings on each article has become redundant, if something is r rated of NSFW, then I’ll mark it. But other then that, lets just say this site is not for kids.

The Review Garden: Tops of 2010

Okay! Time for the first official review on the site!

... 'kay, so this is technically a repost of a review from a few months ago b-b-but!— I have a good reason for it!

For those that don't remember this, these are my tops of 2010. Unfortunately, I was extremely sick and heavily medicated at the time so... ya. Several things didn't really have much to say, including one section that was literally half written without even realizing it. So I cleaned it up, added some details and some pretty pictures.

Plus, this will give all you newcomers a good idea about who I am and what I like.

Also, some of the things here are not suitable for children. I talk about things that have blood, gore, swearing and sexual content. Anything with links that are Mature or not suitable for children have been marked in red.

Also it doesn’t matter when they were put out. The point is that I saw, listened to or read them that year.

Real new look and some other stuff

So. Um. The last few days are a bit of a blur. I remember a small hyperactive horse-thing with pink curly hair singing about friendship, and then hitting me on the head with a... "magic friendship wand". I remember small flashes of purple, glitter and having the strangest craving for a salt-lick. When I came to, my room was painted in pink florals and there were hoof prints everywhere. I'd call the cops but I don't think they would believe me.

Anyway, here is the REAL new look, which... technically isn't "new". I changed a few images around, added images to the new page, got some things in order, etc.

I still have a busy bunch of weeks ahead, so wish me luck.

Oh, and I hope you guys have been showing at least a little support to the insane things going on in the world (take that how you will). I know that things are getting worse over in Japan, with this disaster being called worse then Chernobyl now.

I'm sure by now you've all heard of different organizations you can donate to, so I won't bother making a list. Heck, even my neighboring college, SAIT, has been running a few charities and activities.

In other Canadian news... It's April. And it's still snowing.

Sigh.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a salt-licking glitter fiend to hunt down.

Slug Trails: Blogs

I'm half tempted to call this "Slug Plugs", but uh... ya...

Plus, i couldn't stop lauging and i already have my image drawn. Oh well.

Anyway, down to buisness: I've noticed that i have a love of throwing out links to all the random places i visit/inhabit. And in the next post I'm plannng, there are going to be ALOT more showing up. I figure i need a links section to keep track of them all. So why not make a big deal out of it by turning it into an actual series!?

... This is totally not going to be a cop-out for when I'm busy with grad/portfolio/day job/homework... Really. It's not.

All the links will be introduced here and then posted on the Links page. I'll be posting more, usually themed, as I continue. And any links that will show up in other posts will be automaticly added to the page

Right now, i'm going to start small and introduce a few of the blogs I go to. Also I can't guarantee that you won't see something at one of these sites that is inapropriate for children I will eventually put up a "safe for kids" but for now, all of these are MATURE RATED:

The Writing Desk: Pet Peeves #1: Padding

Okay, I am in no way a writing genius. However, I do know some things about writing and can still give my piece on what makes something good, or at least passable for enjoyable stories. And to start this off, lets look at one of my biggest writing pet peeves: Padding.

Wonder Woman: The TV show

Wonder Slug, Away!

I am a huge WW fan. So to this, I will say:

ABOUT FREAKING TIME! WOO WOO!

*Ahem*

All right, so it's just a pilot, but it's more then she's gotten in a long time, seeing as the last time WW got her own TV series, it was the 70s. And yes, that's including animated TV shows as well.

I was nervous at first. Wondy has not had the greatest luck with writers. In fact, the last couple of decades have had more then a few tragic moments *cough*AmazonsAttack*cough*.

But the more I hear, the more excited I get. I mean, the writing team has the guys who worked on Boston Legal and Supernatural. Which means we have someone that can successfully write moments that involve magic and can write believable and intelligent characters. I'll admit, I was also nervous when I heard that she was going to be a company executive. Yes, that's right.

But when the early script was leaked, I heard that the part was written well for her. And when I think about it, it makes sense. As Diana Prince, Wonder Woman never had ritzy glamourous jobs, but ones that made sense for women at the time. Back when she started, her secret identity was a nurse, or a secretary, or a boutique owner, etc. So a modern day business woman makes sense, to me at least. And instead of being set at the beginning, it's gonna be set several years later. And the script has it's issues, (Wonder woman has a pj party with her bff-- wait, what?)  but it's an early script so I'm not too worried.

Also, Wonder Woman has her own version of Baker Street Irregulars. Huh.

The actress has now been picked: Adrianne Palicki. Her look reminds me of Wonder Woman back in the Golden and Silver age. She has the height and she a little muscular. And base on what I'm hearing, she has the acting ability too. I've never seen Friday Night lights, but thankfully, youtube exist and she's pretty good. And Linda Carter, the actress from the original series, vouches for her which is a major plus.

But I doubt worries will be lifted until the costume is revealed and the pilot starts rolling. But if things keep going the way they are, this is gonna be one epic series.

By the way, the information i found on the script was from this articles: Comics Alliance: WW TV Show Pilot Review
And the picture is from this article: Deadline Hollywood: Adrianne Palicki is NBCs WW

By the way-- I'm trying out a multi-color scheme now, tell me what you think ^_^

Calgary's 7th Avenue

No silliness or rants today. Just wanted to mention this touching article about one of Calgary's most avoided spots: Hope waning on Calgary's 7th Avenue
